For $140, staffers will teach budding magicians the F1 Nitro trick, in which a card is made to vanish from its deck and suddenly appear in a wallet. Equally thrilling is the ParaPad ($95)—a pocket-sized notebook that helps its owner read minds. Professional magicians like Dani Daortiz often host lectures ($35) and workshops ($100), while novices frequently snatch up Michael Ammar’s Easy to Master Card Miracles DVD ($35). Notable alums of Tannen’s weeklong summer camp ($1,295), held each year outside Philadelphia, include actor Adrien Brody and master illusionist David Blaine.

Dani Daortiz Rocks NYC!

It's official, Dani Daortiz is one of the greatest card magicians of all time. The material from his lecture and workshop in New York City blew us away. To watch Dani perform is to watch real magic, it is a thing of beauty.

During his lecture Dani spoke about the psychology he uses to perform his effects. He revealed that every gesture he makes and every word he says is rehearsed for maximum misdirection. He explained this school of thinking by analyzing two of his effects Twin Prediction and Imaginary Dice, both are explained in his lecture notes.

Piff the Magic Dragon Visits Tannen's!

The magic world's favorite dragon, Piff the Magic Dragon, visited Tannen's this past Sunday!

Our staff had a great time showing him tricks and talking about magic. Piff's fame skyrocketed following his performance on Penn & Teller's: Fool Us on British TV. You can see a clip of his performance here.

Ben and Cassandra's Magical Illusion Show

Tannen's very own Ben Nemzer will be presenting his stage extravaganza, Ben Nemzer and Cassandra's Magical Illusion Show this March. All proceeds from their performance will be donated to the anti-bullying organization, dosomething.org.

Ken Krenzel: A True New York Card Man

Ken Krenzel, one of New York City's most reputable card magicians for the last 50 years has passed away.

A staunch supporter of Tannen's Magic, Ken even published his first effect, It Can't Be, with Tannen's in 1958. Ken's work has been recognized as being highly influential to the field of card magic all over the world. Two of Ken's six books are still in print, Card Classics of Ken Krenzel and Relaxed Impossibilities.

Dani Daortiz NYC Lecture and Workshop!

Dani Daortiz, the legendary Spanish cardician, will be lecturing and doing a workshop at Tannen's this upcoming March. This will be Dani's first ever lecture and workshop in the USA!

• The lecture will be on Thursday, March 15th, 2012 at 7:00pm and tickets are $35.

• The workshop will be on Saturday, March 17th, 2012 at 11:00am and tickets are $100 to participate. Only a limited number of seats are available for the full-day workshop.
