Genii Convention 2012 Round-Up

Jared and Uri Geller

This past week the Tannen's crew, owner Adam Blumenthal and manager Jared Molton, went down to sunny Orlando to participate in the Genii 75th Anniversary Birthday Bash.

Tannen's was stationed in the dealers room and with a cacophony of New York themed songs playing in the background of their television, Adam  and Jared astounded and amazed passing attendees. The Depicting Thoughts Set, the Flash Thumbtip and the Rising Cards Miracle were the hottest tricks at the booth and kept people coming back to see more!

Outside of the dealers room the convention was absolutely amazing. The lectures, shows and late-night jam sessions made for one of the most spectacular conventions of all time! The lecture line-up included some of the biggest names in magic. John Carney, David Ben, Guy Hollingworth, Tom Stone, Chad Long, Max Maven, Jamy Ian Swiss, Roberto Giobbi, Christian Engbloom, and many more made their presence felt with fascinating talks and explanations.

Uri Geller gave an absolutely resonating talk on his life and career. He had every single magician in the room on the edge of their seats trying to digest as much information as they could. Uri emphasized that the path to fame is through uniqueness and charisma and that professional entertainers must be creative in their pursuits of success and never shy away from publicity.

The single highlight of the convention was seeing Spanish maestro, Juan Tamariz,  perform a 45-minute show and lecture. The lecture focused on how to make the climax of a routine as powerful as possible. Juan illustrated this idea when he performed his Cards Across and fooled the entire room very badly. Tamariz's presentation only reinforced why he is the greatest in the world.
