Farewell Otto...

We are saddened to learn of the (far too young) passing of a beloved comedy entertainer today. While he was not a magic performer, we've learned that his act was born at Tannen's Magic back in the '70s, when the shop was still in Times Square.

For years, the comedy team of Otto and George have left audiences in tears from laughing at what could easily be described as one of the most "blue" ventriloquist acts to ever grace a stage. We can think of not a single, supremely dirty joke we are able to reprint here for our family audiences, but the laughs he brought to adult audiences everywhere, alongside one of the biggest and kindest hearts one could ever know, are positively unmatched.

Otto fought to diligently save his money, in order to purchase the ventriloquist doll that would become his inseparable performing partner for the decades to follow. It is both heartbreaking and a high honor to learn that they found each other in Tannen's Magic Shop.

Farewell, Otto, and here's hoping a certain President found on our favorite coins for magic has a great sense of humor regarding your (and George's) impression of him.
